Aston Villa defender Tyrone Mings says the ruthless nature of manager Unai Emery is appreciated by the players.

Mings was speaking after victory over Nottingham Forest.

He told BirminghamLive: “He is very, very methodical, which means when he asks you or tells you to do something there's a reason behind it. It's probably a long, thought-out process as to why he's asking us to do this certain thing. There's a reason why you do certain things in training on a Monday or Tuesday which then become apparent on a Thursday or a Friday when we're preparing for the match. You then see why and how what we've been doing will affect the game.

“There's a lot of learning with the manager.

"Certainly the serious side of him and the ruthless side of him is rubbing off on us because, rightly so, we want to enjoy each other's company and we want to enjoy our time here but we're here to win."
