Villarreal center-back Pau Torres is still a target for Aston Villa boss Unai Emery.

The Spaniard is well aware of the qualities of his countryman, having coached him with the Yellow Submarines.

Per Tutto Mercato, Villa are the favourites to secure the 26-year-old, despite Juventus also being after his signature.

The Midlands club believe the Emery connection and their financial power can ensure they secure Torres.

The defender has previously been linked to Manchester United, but a move never materialized.

Villarreal value their center-back at around €30 million, given he entering the final year of his contract.
