Aston Villa attacker Nicolo Zaniolo is expected to learn his fate at the end of next week.

The 24-year-old is one of several Italian players in hot water over betting violations.

Zaniolo, Juventus midfielder Nicolo Fagioli, and Newcastle United star Sandro Tonali are among those who have been accused of illegal betting in Italy.

Both Tonali and Fagioli have also been betting on their own clubs when playing for those teams, even though all bets were on their teams to win.

Per the Express and Star, the investigation into Zaniolo is expected to wrap up in ten days time.

Asked about the midfielder, Villa manager Unai Emery stated this weekend: “Zaniolo I think played very well today (4-1 win over West Ham United). His adaptation is going well.

“It's not easy to introduce him in this squad, in this starting XI. It's the same for (Diego) Carlos, (Clement) Lenglet, Youri (Tielemans), the new players. I am happy with them and I am practicing every day on the training ground."
