ASIAN CUP: Luongo, Kruse dazzle as Australia thrash Oman

Australia are into the Asian Cup quarterfinals after their 4-0 hammering of Oman.

Robbie Kruse capped off a man of the match performance by getting himself on the scoresheet, along with Mark Milligan, Matt McKay and Tomi Juric.

On 27 minutes, from a set-piece, Australia opened the scoring as Trent Sainsbury's knock-down header provided the easiest of tap-ins for the recalled McKay.

Swindon Town midfielder Massimo Luongo was again outstanding on the night and created the Aussies' second on 31 minutes. His pass found Kruse, who finished superbly beyond Oman goalkeeper Ali Al-Habsi.

Then on halftime, Milligan made it 3-0 as he converted a penalty won by Tim Cahill.

The fourth came in the 70th minute thanks to the pace of Matthew Leckie, who broke away to set up Juric with his square pass.

Australia, sitting on six points from two games, cannot be caught and now meet South Korea in Brisbane on Saturday to decide who qualifies first from their group.
