Arsenal are stepping up their interest in Lille central defender Gabriel Magalhaes.

The Gunners are desperate to shore up their rearguard ahead of next season's Premier League.

And France Bleu Nord claims Mikel Arteta has confirmed Magalhaes as one of his key targets.

The 22-year-old has also been linked to Manchester United, Everton and Napli.

The French source claims Arsenal are at the front of negotiations for the player.

Gabriel has previously indicated he would welcome a move to the Premier League.
