Mesut Özil has responded to Arsenal's re-hiring of Gunnersaurus.

The club mascot, played by Jerry Quy for the past 27 years, posted a tweet on Tuesday from the sidelines of the Premier League club's home ground with the caption: "Back at Emirates Stadium today."

Quy was originally made redundant last month as Arsenal cut jobs due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Ozil offered to pay Quy's wages to keep Gunnersaurus on the Emirates sidelines.

And the German posted on Twitter after the news: "Happy to see you back where you belong #YaGunnersYa."
