Arsenal midfielder Xhaka wearing pink boots for breast cancer

Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka will wear pink boots to help raise awareness for breast cancer.

Under Amour launched the 'Power in Pink' campaign in 2003 and this year 30 high-profile athletes will wear the unique boots.

Xhaka, playing for Switzerland against Hungary and Portugal this weekend, will also lace up the boots when playing for Arsenal.

The 25-year-old posted a touching tribute on Instagram: "Breast cancer is a horrible disease that affects entire families. Not just women - but children, husbands, mothers and fathers back home.

"It takes enormous strength and courage to go to battle with such an enemy every day of your life without losing hope.

"I'll therefore proudly wear their fighting spirit on my boots."

Memphis Depay, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Jonathan Tah are amongst the players who will be joining Xhaka in October.

The money from the campaign will be donated to six cancer centres as well as help 50 people suffering from the disease.
