ARSENAL IN ASIA: Fitness the main concern as Wilshere looks ahead to Asia Trophy final

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere believes the primary purpose of the pre-season tour is to make the team physically fit for next season.

The Gunners will play Everton in the final of the Barclays Asia Trophy on Saturday, after defeating a Singapore Select XI 4-0, but Wilshere's main concern remains the fitness.

"I think [it's just about getting fitness]," he said. "We want to win every game and the boss tells us that before the game, and stuff that we can work on during the game, but the main thing here is fitness.

"Especially in this heat, you want to work on winning the ball back high up the pitch and when we have it, we want to keep it because you don't want to be chasing too much. Everton like to keep the ball so we want to keep it as much as we can."

The 23-year-old spent the majority of the last season on sidelines due to an ankle injury but was instrumental in the final stages of last campaign.
