Arsenal are ready to drop their pursuit of Swansea City defender Ashley Williams.

The Daily Mail says the Gunners have opened talks with Swansea over a swoop for the Wales defender, but are refusing to meet the Swans £10million asking price.

And with Arsenal currently unwilling to meet Williams' valuation, unsettled skipper Thomas Vermaelen is set to stay at the Emirates Stadium.
