Arsenal defender David Luiz reaffirms Benfica plans: But do they need me?

Arsenal defender David Luiz has reaffirmed career plans of again playing for former club Benfica.

Luiz's contract runs to 2021, when he'll be 34 years of age.

He said, “I've always said that I would like to end my career at Benfica, but I don't know when.

"What I know is that I want my legs to be part of the project, I don't want to go there burnt. For the moment, I have taken on this challenge at Arsenal, and besides it must be recognised that Benfica is well supplied in my position. But my dream is to be able to play again at the Stade de la Luz.

"It will be one of the most emotional days of my life. I want to put on this 'Manto Sagrado' (nickname given to the Benfica shirt) and my number 23 in Benfica."
