Arsenal boss Emery blasts French football: They treated me with sarcasm

Arsenal boss Unai Emery has taken a swipe at French football, accusing many inside the game of arrogance.

Emery feels he was never truly accepted as PSG coach and found himself mocked when trying to speak the local language.

He told El Mundo: "There is less pressure, everything is simpler here. Arsenal is a very big club, but at the same time there is warmth and humanity.

"They are all ready to help you, you feel great respect. When I arrived in Paris I immediately tried to speak French but they treated me with sarcasm, they said I couldn't.

"In London I use a very simple English, everyone smiles at me and they thank me for trying. At first things were not going well in Paris, (PSG president Nasser) Al-Khelaifi told me not to worry, because the project was a long term one, we won three trophies, but they were aiming for the Champions League and that's it.

"I feel good, for the first time I don't feel I have to survive. Other clubs have greater economic potential, but the history of Arsenal and its structure make it among the top ten in Europe."
