Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta admits Jurrien Timber's season is over.

Less than a half-hour into his Premier League debut against Nottingham Forest, the summer signing suffered an ACL injury.

Arteta said, "It's really bad news: especially for him, so soon after his arrival, but also for us as a club. We took him with certain intentions, because it was clear what he would bring to the team.

"Now we will miss him for the rest of the season, in which he could have helped us in more points in defence."

Regarding a possible return to the market to replace Timber, Arteta replied: “I think above all of the players we still have available. The number of possibilities is very small, but it offers opportunities for everyone. Everyone has to be ready to play."
