Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is set to go back to the drawing board after missing out on his preferred transfer targets.
The Gunners had targeted Emi Buendia before Aston Villa swooped in to sign the Norwich City attacker for £35m.
Re-signing Martin Odegaard, who spent last season on loan from Real Madrid, was another priority.
But according to The Athletic, new Real boss Carlo Ancelotti wants to keep Odegaard.
Thus, Arteta is now looking at other playmaker options.
That includes Real Betis star Nabil Fekir, who came close to joining Liverpool in 2018.
Fekir is viewed as a much more affordable option than Odegaard, freeing up funds for Arteta to pursue other targets.
