Anderlecht chief Peter Verbeke has welcomed new signing Amadou Diawara.

The former Roma midfielder was signed this week, penning a three-year contract in the process.

Verbeke said: "With Trebel's injury we needed experience in the middle of the pitch, plus we wanted to add strength to the squad.

"We are convinced that Amadou can help us in all this. He is eager to test himself after a difficult season with the Roma shirt.

"He has made a lot of effort to ensure that the operation could go through, I am convinced that with his mentality it will soon lead to the highest level."
