Alvarez proud maintaining Man City's Argentine influence

Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez admits a move to England was inspired by Sergio Aguero.

It was just over 18 months ago that Alvarez joined City from River Plate.

“I knew about the players who were here," he stated of his fellow Argentines.

“Players who have passed through here and have left their mark, who have won many titles, and before coming they gave me some peace of mind.

“I was able to talk with Kun, with Otamendi, and they told me a bit about the club, giving me more information about the world of Manchester City!

“But with the Argentines coming from a country so far away, from another continent, and having the people support you so much is very nice."

Alvarez also revealed Pablo Zabaleta's influence.

“I remember that when I arrived, he [Zabaleta] travelled with us on the pre-season tour, I was able to share some Argentinian mate, have a bit of a chat with him," Alvarez told City's website.

“He told me a bit about what Manchester City is, about everything he had experienced.

“And I also noticed he is a great person who always wants the best for everyone around him.

“We can all make mistakes, but the effort, the commitment, those are non-negotiable and I think that's what characterised him. So I try to do that.

“Beyond making mistakes, the commitment, the effort has to be there so I always give 100%."
