Alex Iwobi is close to penning new long-term deal with Everton, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The 26-year-old has seen his career completely revived under Frank Lampard, firstly plugging holes as a versatile option during last season's relegation battle before making the central midfield position his own since the summer.

Iwobi's current deal at Goodison Park runs out in 2024, but the Nigerian has often been honest about his desire to remain at the club who have helped him fulfil his potential.

And that looks set to be the case, with reports that talks are in the advanced stages and that Iwobi will soon put pen to paper in confirming his extension with the Toffees.
