Alderweireld serene in wake of Tottenham toppling of Man City - ‘It’s just a win’

Toby Alderweireld is remaining calm following Tottenham's triumph over Manchester City on the weekend.

Spurs demolished the pre-round Premier League leaders 4-1 at White Hart Lane on Saturday but the Belgian defender, who was on the scoresheet, had a tranquil message as the North Londoners look to build on such a result.

"It's just a win, we can enjoy it, then we have to work hard again, improve every day and we can have a fantastic season," he told Spurs TV.

"We don't have to dream too much, we stay with two feet on the ground, work hard and we know we have a young, talented group of players.

"If we work hard and we do everything we have to do then we have the quality to make the difference."

Alderweireld added: "We had a lot of belief, we put in the effort, everyone worked so hard and at the end we deserved the win.

"Now it's important to build on it."

Spurs next take on French club Monaco in the principality in the Europa League on Thursday night before focusing their attention on Sunday's trip to Swansea City.
