Ajax are closing on released Chelsea striker Samuel Eto'o, despite competition from Liverpool.
De Telegraaf says Marc Overmars and Michael Kinsbergen spoke last Thursday in Paris with Eto'o and had a good feeling about that conversation.
Liverpool have been in talks with the striker's camp this week.
However, Ajax officials feel they have a "50-50" chance of beating the Reds to Eto'o's signature.
The veteran was due to make Ajax's clash with Vitesse Arnhem on Sunday, but decided to duck the game after news of his invitation was leaked on social media.
