Aguero was big but entire team did the job - Man City's Pellegrini

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini felt his entire team got the job done against Bayern Munich on Tuesday night.

The Premier League title-holders produced a vital 3-2 victory over the Bundesliga giants in Group E of the Champions League to keep their hopes of progressing to the Round of 16 alive.

Sergio Aguero was the hero for City with a stunning hat-trick including two goals in the final five or so minutes to allow the home side to grab all three points at the Etihad Stadium.

After the match, Pellegrini praised Aguero but felt it was a full team performance which allowed them to get the better of Pep Guardiola's Bayern just as they did at the Allianz Arena in the group stage last season.

"I think that all the big teams need big players and Sergio is a big player, a top player, and he's very important," he told ITV.

"But I think the whole team continued playing with trust until the end today.

"The two goals that Bayern scored were unbelievable, but the whole team continued having trust in our work and our play until the end."

To qualify for the next phase, City must now defeat Italian side AS Roma in their final group stage fixture in Italy on December 10 and hope Bayern avoid losing to CSKA Moscow in Germany on the same date.
