Agent insists Villa midfielder Dendoncker 'doesn't regret' Napoli move

Napoli loan star Leander Dendoncker's agent Seraino Dalgliesh has spoken about his client's future.

Dendoncker left Aston Villa in the winter to join Napoli and play regularly, but it has not panned out as expected.

He has only appeared in three matches, each time coming off the bench for the Italian giants.

"Dendoncker always has a positive spirit, he considers himself a footballer of team therefore has the interest of the team as its first objective," Dalgliesh said to Radio CRC.

"Of course, he would like to help them more to achieve their objectives, but these are the coach's prerogatives. However, he remains positive and will use this break to work even harder and get more minutes in the final part of the season.

"We don't regret it. Of course he would like to play more and if you ask me if he deserves it I say yes, why? He comes from an important club, because he is a Belgian international and therefore he is a important player who deserves to play more. However, this does not mean that Leander is discouraged or that he would not make this choice again. He is calm, not entirely satisfied, but very calm.

"His future? Dendoncker's focus is on the team, he wants it to get the best possible position in the league. Putting things right on the pitch and finishing Serie A in the best possible way is his immediate objective. Then, we'll talk to the club at the end of the season and we will see if there are the conditions to continue.

"But the sporting objective is the his only focus at the moment. The change of coach has inevitably influenced Dendoncker's playing time because now there is no coach at Napoli it's the coach who wanted it. Mazzarri may have asked for a player like Dendoncker as a reinforcement, now with another coach it's clear that the impact is different.

"I don't want this statement of mine to be seen as a controversy, but it's clear that if you look at the minutes played, you have to consider that now there is Calzona, who is an excellent coach and no less good than Mazzarri. Dendoncker is playing for a shirt with Lobotka, who Calzona knows well, but having said this, I have maximum respect for the Napoli coach.

"Naples is a wonderful city in which Dendoncker is enjoying himself very well. Not only the city, but also the people of Naples are wonderful. Dendoncker and Mertens are in contact, they spoke about the destination Naples before he arrived and Dries you can imagine that he only had nice words for the city and the people. He didn't come here to be a tourist, but at the moment he's enjoying at least that."
