AC Milan striker Olivier Giroud is confident they'll be amongst the title contenders this season.

Giroud insists the title race will be decided by a wide field.

After defeat to Barcelona in Las Vegas, he told Milan TV: "My sensations are good, but I was a bit tired for this match. Barcelona made us run a lot. We can still improve in pressing, perhaps making it more compact and shorter for this type of game. But let's work.

"I'm very happy with the new guys who are part of the team. They have a good mentality. Today, effectiveness made the difference. We could have been more precise in the last choice and in the finalization, too bad... We could have equalised. We still have some time to prepare and be even better."

"Tijjani is doing very well, with Okafor and Chukwueze we are stronger than last year. We simply have to find a relationship on the pitch with our mentality and our way of playing.

"There are 5-6 teams for the Scudetto, like last year and two years ago: Napoli, Inter, Juve, Lazio and Roma. It will be difficult, but we are very excited."
