AC Milan GM Paolo Maldini admits his first week back has left him "exhausted".

Maldini spoke before their friendly defeat to Real Madrid.

“I am exhausted, but very happy. Returning to such a wonderful stadium against a side that has won everything is always marvellous," new director Maldini told Sky Sport Italia.

“Aside from being opponents, there is the utmost respect with Real Madrid.

"They and all the fans want to see Milan back to the top level, but it takes time to do it properly."
