Burnley has received a major boost in their pursuit of Metz striker Georges Mikautadze.

Mikautadze has just completed an impressive season in Ligue 2, where he produced 24 goals and 8 assists in 38 matches in all competitions.

Foot Mercato says his exploits have brought him to the attention of Premier League returnees Burnley.

The Clarets were facing competition from AC Milan, but last week's dismissal of technical director Paolo Maldini has seen the Rossoneri track run cold.

As such, Burnley are now favourites to sign the 22 year-old Mikautadze.
