AC Milan chief Furlani: Saudi Pro League a new opportunity for football

AC Milan chief Giorgio Furlani insists there's no need to panic over the spending of the Saudi Pro League.

Furlani insists the mega spending can be a new opportunity for the game.

He said: “This type of leagues are new content for fans. There are funds that invest in sports and this can't be a bad thing for us, because investing in the industry helps the sports industry to grow. There are new ideas that help us understand how to do things differently. I don't see anything negative about it.

"The USA is very important to us, we have 16 fan clubs in North America, 13 of which are in the USA and two in California. We want to grow. The sports market in America is the strongest in the world and soccer is growing exponentially.

"We are an Italian club with American ownership, Gerry Cardinale's Red Bird Capital Partners, and they have long been in this world where sports, media, entertainment and cultures meet. They help us a lot in the development in general and in particular with our fan base in the USA. Their expertise and experience are decisive in the growth of the Club on a global level. From this point of view, what is being done in the USA for the 2026 World Cup is important."
