Abeid keen to get Newcastle opportunity

Newcastle United youngster Mehdi Abeid is hoping he is given another first team chance soon.

The 19-year old Algerian midfielder, who has appeared once in the Carling Cup for the Magpies this season, could be included in this weekend's clash with Swansea City and is determined to do well in the absence of Cheick Tiote, Dan Gosling and Danny Guthrie if thrown an opportunity.

"I hope my chance comes soon. I really want to play for this team," he told the Newcastle Chronicle.

"I'll wait for my chance, and when I get it, I hope to do well and show what I can do. I hope to do a lot for this club.

"I train every day here to get a chance with the first team. Every day I try to show what I can do, and what I can give to the team in the future.

"I'm really happy to work with everyone here."
