Zinedine Zidane wants an end to his running feud with Inter Milan defender Marco Materazzi.

Zidane admits he has no excuses for his World Cup Final bust-up with Materazzi.

"What I did was inexcusable. It was disappointing and the referee had to do what he did," said the former World Player of the Year in an interview with Bild.

"The fact that France and the fans have forgiven me is an honour," continued Zidane, who retired after the World Cup. "They have probably retained memories of my whole career and not only this momentary mistake."
