Zidane on superb Real Madrid debut: I'm happy. That's all...

Real Madrid thumped home five against Deportivo La Coruna to mark Zinedine Zidane's debut.

Karim Benzema got the Zidane era off to an ideal start by scoring after just 15 minutes and then Gareth Bale netted either side of the break before scoring a second header to complete his treble.

Benzema added a fifth in stoppage-time as Real ensured the gap to Barcelona at the top remains at two points, albeit with Los Merengues having played one game more.

“When you win a match the coach can only be happy, and I'm happy. That's all," said Zidane.

The French coach said what he'd liked most from his side had been the attitude.

“It's not easy to win 5-0 against a side like Depor. What I'll take from this match is the attitude of those who played and those who didn't".
