Young Socceroos finish all square with Uzbekistan

The Qantas Young Socceroos have drawn their second match of the AFC U19 Championships in Saudi Arabia. A 1-1 draw with Uzbekistan sees the Young Socceroos with four points from their first two games and currently in top position on the Group D table.

A Tahj Minniecohn equaliser in the 48th minute cancelled out Karimov Sherzodbek's opener on 37 minutes.

Socceroos coach Jan Versleijen was slightly disappointed with the performance on the night.

"We didn't reach the level we had against Thailand and this was in part due to the defending and organisation by Uzbekistan," said Versleijen.

"In the second half we played better, and more forward after we equalised, but we just couldn't find an opening to score another goal.

"We are still in the race to qualify for the next round and a good result against Jordan will see us get to the quarter finals," concluded Versleijen.

The Young Socceroos meet the winless Jordan in their next encounter on Thursday night whilst Uzbekistan (also on four points) take on Thailand who have a win and loss so far in the tournament.
