Aston Villa veteran Ashley Young has hit out at critics of former Manchester United teammate Harry Maguire.
Young, who has 39 England caps, has backed Maguire to star at the World Cup despite his torrid time at Old Trafford.
He told The Sun: “You are going to be criticised because you are captain at one of the biggest clubs in the world. But the criticism he is getting has gone too far.
“He can play well for England and gets booed. He can play well for United and he gets booed. It is borderline bullying.
“But he is a strong character and can deal with it."
