After an opening loss to Japan, it was important Sami Al Nash's side hit back and they did so with a confidence-boosting performance.
Substitute Akram Al Selwi netted in the 52nd minute to give the home side the points.
Al Nash was delighted with the result.
"I'm happy we have registered our first win in the qualifiers because it will boost the morale of the players," said Al Nash.
"The win will regain the confidence of the players especially after the hard conditions that we had.
"I promise that we will continue with the same good performance that we had today especially that we controlled the game. We dominated the game and created a lot of chances but we couldn't score more goals.
"The players missed a lot of chances because they tried to finish the attacks quickly. We played a good side today and they created some chances through their quick counter attacks."
