Yaya Toure: Sterling could have dived to win Man City penalty

Yaya Toure believes Raheem Sterling may have dived to win a penalty on Saturday.

The Manchester City winger was nudged in the back by Tottenham Hotspur defender Kyle Walker in what should have been a clear spot-kick to the home side at the Etihad Stadium.

Referee Andre Marriner opted against awarding City a penalty when the scoreline read 2-1 to Pep Guardiola's side, and int he wake of that missed decision, Toure has implored teammate Sterling to make more out of any similar incidents in the future.

"If you have a bit of experience like me, you'd maybe 'dive' and that's maybe what you have to do," he said.

"He's too honest, he wants to be proper in these sort of games.

"If the lad's like that, you can't tell him he's wrong, if that's what he tries to do but, when you see it, he couldn't miss the goal - but Walker pushes him in the back."

Immediately after the non-call, Spurs went down the other end and scored an equaliser through Son Heung-min in the eventual 2-2 draw.
