Wolves are eyeing Newcastle United striker Leon Best.

The Evening Chronicle says sources in the Black Country believe Best is on Wolves' hit list.

The midlanders are in the January market for a striker and Best would fit the bill at Molineux for Mick McCarthy, who is clued up on what the 24-year-old has to offer due to his obvious links with the Republic of Ireland scene.

It is also believed Danish star Peter Lovenkrands is another Toon striker whom Wolves have considered.
