Wolves keeper De Vries up for Hennessey No1 battle

Wolves goalkeeper Dorus De Vries is up for the battle with Wayne Hennessey for the No1 spot.

For the past four years the Dutchman had been the Swansea City's first choice. However, he has now set himself a new challenge of becoming Wolves No.1.

"For me it's a different situation, because the last couple of years I've been No.1 without a doubt, and of course I've worked really hard for that," he told the Sunday Mercury.

"But for me to come here as a fairly unknown player from Swansea City, the goalkeepers have been here for a long time already. All I can do as the new guy is train really hard.

"If I train as hard as I can and show the gaffer I'm ready, then that's all I can do.

"Unfortunately I had an injury in pre-season but I'm over that now. I'm happy with that because it's the first injury I've had for a long while.

"I'm enjoying it so far and I'm progressing. It's a higher standard of course, so I'm learning new things and I'm sure that will push me on."
