Wolves down Celtic in Parkhead friendly

English Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers last night defeated Celtic 2-0 in a friendly at Parkhead.

Neil Lennon did not use one starting player from the Scottish Premier League's opening weekend win over Hibernian, preferring to have a number of trialists take on Mick McCarthy's Wolves.

Goalkeeper Stipe Pletikosa was at fault for the first goal when Jamie O'Hara's 26th minute free-kick found the back of the net and although it was well-taken, the former Tottenham loanee seemed to be in a poor position, making Lennon's decision on whether or not to keep him a very interesting one.

The second goal came from an own goal from youngster Filip Twardzik who deflected Stephen Hunt's free-kick into the back of his own net in what was a fairly tame hitout for both sides. Lennon also had South Africa international Katlego Mphela and Slovakian striker Milos Lacny on trial but reports suggest the pair did not do enough to warrant a recall from the Hoops boss.
