Wolves chairman Jeff Shi: Our Academy crucial to future

Wolves chairman Jeff Shi says it's critical they maintain a first team pathway for their young players.

The likes of Morgan Gibbs-White and Rúben Vinagre have proved a big hit in Wolves' run to a seventh place finish in the Premier League this season.

And Shi told CNBC: "Yeah we've spent a lot on the Academy and I think for us we want to invest smart, it's not only about investing money.

"We want to increase the efficiency on investment so one of the parts is about investing in young players. When they are cheap is when they are young and then you try to develop them into a star of the future.

"You can see some big clubs they have a very fantastic academy but the young players have no pathway to go up. But we are trying to provide the pathway to train with the first team, to play in the first team and I do feel we are one team with that."
