Wolves boss O'Neil delighted with new Hwang contract

Wolves boss Gary O'Neil admits he's delighted with Hwang Hee-chan's new deal.

The South Korea striker penned a new contract last week.

O'Neil said ahead of today's clash with Chelsea: “I'm delighted for him. He's worked extremely hard. He's given me, the staff and his teammates absolutely everything since I've been here and has obviously scored some really important goals. I'm delighted for the club to have secured his services for longer, and he's a great guy.

“He came looking for me and the staff to thank us all on the hard work that we've done with him to help him earn his new contract, so that just speaks a lot about what Channy is and how important he is to the group. He's an excellent, great guy and I'm delighted that when someone puts as much in as he does is rewarded with goals, assists and a new contract.

“I'm not sure it's selling him the dream. It's showing him a way we try to work and he can see the direction that the club is trying to go in. We're still very early in that, we're very early in the transition from what the club were over the last few years to what we're trying to be now, but Channy understands that.

“He knows how important he is in it, and by the look of how he's training and performing, he has real confidence in what we're trying to do, and I'm hopeful that's one of the main reasons he's decided to stay with us for the next five years."
