Wolves boss Mick McCarthy says Michael Kightly remains available for loan.
Kightly has seen a loan move to Nottingham Forest scuppered by Steve McClaren's resignation.
"I had spoken to Steve about Kightly,'' the manager said. ''I was open to it and so was Kites. I said to him yesterday 'you might cancel that one now, eh?
''I've no idea what happened. I spoke to Steve and left it that if they wanted Kites then he'd be open to it.
'They wanted a winger. We've got Adam Hammill and Kites and Adam was never in line to go."
