Wolves boss McCarthy says Grant deserves better at West Ham

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy has blasted the pressure managers like West Ham United's Avram Grant find themselves under.

West Ham have already had their 'save our season' game and the manager has supposedly been set a Christmas points target.

But McCarthy said: "I just wish people would have a bit more class - and I mean that right across the board. Unfortunately, it doesn't happen at football clubs.

"If everyone was on a contract that the LMA are trying to get, it would be set conditions across the board that if your club doesn't want you, they pay you and it's out of the door.

"And it would be without all the speculation beforehand, that's what I mean about class.

"You should not say managers have games to save their jobs.

"If they did do that to Avram, then it's worked as West Ham have been superb. But you're like a dead man walking all the time - you need the support of your bosses.

"And mine is a good relationship at Wolves. They get a lot of hard graft from me and I get a lot of support from them. There's no pressure from my bosses.

"The job's hard enough without anyone accentuating the fact that you're in the bottom three."
