Wolves boss McCarthy not taking McFadden deal for granted

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy isn't taking anything for granted with James McFadden's deal.

McFadden is a free agent after leaving Birmingham City and will relaunch his career after a year on the sidelines with a knee injury.

Talks to thrash out an initial one-year contract, linked to appearances, are taking place and McCarthy said: "He has looked good in training and I am delighted with that part of it. I want to sign him."

McFadden has not played since Birmingham's goalless draw against Liverpool at St Andrew's in September last year.

Summer knee surgery in America delayed his return, but he has come through the trial with no reaction.

McCarthy is not putting a timescale on when McFadden may be ready, but added: "Hopefully he will be playing here soon."
