West Ham United defender Winston Reid has welcomed the arrival of Alex Song.
The midfielder has joined on-loan from Barcelona.
"Alex Song is a good player and will help improve the squad so I'm looking forward to working with him," Reid told whufc.com.
"The club has done a massive job to get him here. He's going to be a big player for us, he's proven himself at Arsenal and Barcelona and it's good that he's here. "
Reid had no complains over Saturday's result, saying that his team deserved nothing from the game following a lacklustre display against Southampton.
"We were not at our best and we need to improve," he admitted.
"It was disappointing to concede the second goal from a short corner, but that's only one goal. We conceded three and that shouldn't happen. It wasn't our day.
"We lost the game - we didn't play very well. We've played a lot better than that, and now we've lost three home games, so we have to put that right.
"It was a general off day, our passing wasn't there and Southampton were the better team. That was it."
