Willian insists Alexandre Pato can prove himself up to the job at Chelsea.
Pato was signed on an initial loan deal from Corinthians in January but has made only two appearances for the Blues, and appears likely to return to his parent club in the summer.
But Willian said: "He has the desire to stay and I hope this can be resolved as quickly as possible. It would be very positive for us if he did.
"I have a great relationship with him since the days in junior football and he is a very good friend of mine. He doesn't know whether he will stay or go."
