Former Australia international Luke Wilkshire is urging Arsen Zakharyan to think carefully about leaving Dynamo Moscow.
The Russia winger is on the brink of a €15m move to Chelsea in January.
And former Dynamo and Middlesbrough wing-back Wilkshire told Sport24: "The best player in Dynamo? There are several. But the strongest, perhaps, is Zakharyan. No wonder Chelsea are interested in him. He is a great talent.
"Of course, it will be a pity if he leaves Dynamo. But how cool it would be if a young Russian talent moves to the English Premier League?
"Everything depends only on him. He'll have a chance, that's for sure. His task is to seize this chance and take advantage of it. He's got talent, no question here. But to play in Europe, a talent is not enough. You should not have mental problems, you should be able to adapt to a different style of play, quickly get used to the new reality.
"Sometimes this becomes a problem for top Russian players when they leave Russia."
