Brazilian-born Genk star Joao Carlos is a target for Wigan Athletic.

The defender played a major role in helping Genk win the Belgian Cup last term, lifting the trophy as captain, and they are keen to resist any approaches from Roberto Martinez.

The 28-year-old has obtained Belgian nationality and pledged his international career to his adopted country so he would not require a work permit.
