Wigan Athletic have sacked Malky Mackay as manager.
The Latics board has made the call after Mackay's side lost 2-0 at home to Derby County on Monday which saw them fall to second bottom on the Championship table.
The Scotsman took over at the DW Stadium in November last year after Uwe Rosler was dismissed but has met his demise less than six months into his tenure.
Chairman David Sharpe said: "This is a very difficult decision to make but I feel that, for the long term future of the club, there needs to be a change now. I wish Malky all the best for the future."
Wigan now find themselves sitting eight points away from safety with just five fixtures remaining.
