Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez is in talks with Spain's Hercules for Nelson Valdez.
The Daily Star says Martinez has been told he must cough up £4.5million to land Hercules and Paraguay international hit-man Valdez.
That is how much the relegated Spanish outfit are demanding for Valdez after rejecting an opening £3.5m bid by Wigan boss Martinez.
Hercules inserted a £4.5m buy-out clause in Valdez's three-year contract when they signed him from Borussia Dortmund for £3m 11 months ago.
