Wigan Athletic boss Steve Bruce is in talks with defender Paul Scharner over a new three-year contract.
The Austrian star, voted the club's Player of the Year, is now close to agreeing terms on a three-year contract after his initial £40,000-a-week demands put the deal in jeopardy.
