Wigan chief Spencer jets to Egypt to close Zaki deal

Wigan Athletic hope to wrap up a permanent deal for on-loan El Zamalek striker Amr Zaki this week.

The Daily Mail says chief executive Brenda Spencer flies to Cairo this week to try and clinch a £6.5million move with his club Zamalek.

Wigan, who have Zaki until the end of the season, had planned to negotiate in January but he is being eyed by other clubs including Manchester City.

Chairman Dave Whelan, who has already paid a £1.3m loan fee, will owe a £500,000 bonus if Zaki scores 10.
