Wigan Athletic are chasing Middlesbrough midfielder Lee Cattermole.

Latics boss Steve Bruce has tabled a £3.5million offer for the midfield dynamo. The Latics chief wants to bring fresh legs and hunger into his side and Cattermole, 20, fits the bill. Bruce can also offer terms that will dwarf his current deal, says the Mirror.

Bruce has to beat off rival interest from West Brom, with Boro old boy Tony Mowbray also keen on Cattermole. Bruce's superior spending power should win the race.
