Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan is planning talks with Roberto Martinez over the futures of Latics players. Martinez has endured a mixed debut season as Wigan boss as the club survived a brush with relegation from the Premier League.
With Wigan now able to focus on another year of Premier League football, Whelan is keen to sit down with Martinez and discuss plans for next season.
"I will be sitting down with Roberto Martinez very soon to discuss budgets," said Whelan in the Daily Mail.
"Some players will be staying, some will be going.
"But one thing we won't do is go the way of Portsmouth and Hull, and just throw money around. We won't be stupid about it."
