Wigan boss Martinez: No players will be sold

Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez is adamant he won't sell anyone next month.

Martinez remains confident that he can still hold on to the likes of Hugo Rodallega and Maynor Figueroa - because Wigan themselves want to become a buying club.

The Spaniard said: "It gives me great satisfaction when other teams look at our players. But we don't have to sell players and that is a big strength in this window.

"There are a few mentions of our players who have been playing well recently but I have no fears of losing them. Our aim is to get into Europe in three years time and to do that we will need to stay in the Premier League - and we need every player."

Wigan lost Wilson Palacios to Tottenham and Antonio Valencia to Manchester United after impressive years at DW Stadium.

Martinez added: "We accept if a big club comes we will never stop them but it has to be at a time that suits Wigan.

"But we need to sign players now, not lose any players in the near future."
